Size follows your bill, not your roof. As a rule of thumb in Rajasthan, 1 KW generates about 120 units a month, so divide your monthly units by 120. A household spending ₹3,000 a month typically needs about 3 KW, which also happens to be where the subsidy tops out.

₹30,000 per KW for the first 2 KW plus ₹18,000 for the third, capped at ₹78,000. You pay the installer the full price and the government credits the subsidy straight to your bank account after commissioning.
